First, determine your home’s value.

"What can I get for it?" It’s the big question you want answered, but the actual value of your home is not a fixed matter. It will actually vary according to several factors:

  • Its condition and location.
  • the time of year.
  • other houses for sale in the area.
  • current interest rates.

Your Shorewest sales associate will conduct a free, no-obligation Comparative Market Analysis (CMA). This is the fairest, most accurate way to set the asking price for your home. In addition to showing you what has sold, your Shorewest associate will also show you what's currently on the market so you'll know your competition, making it easier for you to price your home competitively. During the marketing of your home, your associate will also keep you informed of any properties that have sold and any new ones that have come on the market, keeping you well informed of changing market conditions.

Preparation. A big key to selling.

prepare your home for selling

You’ve heard about "curb appeal." But getting your home ready goes beyond first impressions. Shorewest has created tips on cleaning, decorating and repairing your home to make it the most appealing to buyers. Your sales associate may offer additional personal tips from her own experience—all to improve the marketability of your home. She’ll also see that you have the documents needed for a smooth transaction.

Find an Agent

Closing the sale.

You’ve found a qualified buyer. It all becomes official at the closing. Here, you and your Shorewest sales associate meet with the buyer and his agent, along with an escrow agent from the title company. You and the buyer will review and sign all closing papers. The buyer then presents a cashier’s or certified check for the down payment and closing costs, while you provide the keys to the new owner. You’ll also need to bring the following to your closing:

  • Keys and garage door openers.
  • Code compliance certificate(s).
  • Personal ID.

Count on Shorewest’s experienced closing team to take care of everything, even offering a pre-signing service for those who can’t be present at closing. Whether you’re moving down the street or across the globe, you’ll appreciate the resources offered by our family of companies, including our Closing, and Relocation divisions.
